ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The overall performance of the group office/function as part of the management team

One or more areas of technology/discipline/sector lead

Promoting learning from successes and problems within the group and across the business

The development and/or implementation of plans for the longer-term benefit to the office/group.

Assisting with the recruitment, appraisal, performance, work, development, morale and motivation of specified staff

Providing robust directional and honest feedback to staff

Organising training needs for groups/teams

Financial performance in specified areas (healthy profit / cash flow)

Procuring work (negotiating significant contracts/agreements with customers and or suppliers)

Recognised as an expert within B&W and the industry in own region and globally.

Deals with complex escalated problems within own area

Ensures healthy profit/cash flow for own area of responsibility

Ability to lead and direct multi-discipline design teams

Experience and understanding of invoicing and credit control

Ability to review and critic the work of others

Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others

Ability to work to deadlines.

Acts with integrity, is straight talking respectful and fair

Promotes and enforces a culture of respect and inclusion of all in the business

Willingness to develop further skills and knowledge through ongoing personal development and training

Able to travel overseas for site visits, factory tests and other B&W offices

Good understanding of BS and IEC standards, applicable local codes or overseas equivalent

Knowledge of National Grid, networks operators (DNOs and IDNOs) and Energy Network Association specifications and practices, or equivalent overseas organisations

Computer literate including AutoCAD, ETAP (or an equivalent system modelling software for HV and MV), Amtech and Microsoft Office

Presentation skills, Leadership and mentoring skills

Ability to lead and direct multi-discipline design

teams.

BSc/BEng in in electrical (with power options) or power system engineering or have sufficient equivalent experience

Member of the IET or an equivalent overseas institution

Chartered or Professional Engineer status

Preparation of MV and HV equipment specifications and data sheets using proforma

documents along with controls and overall project specifications.

Selection of protection schemes for MV and HV networks, prepare protection strategy documents

and report

Undertake power systems network analysis including:

- Protection studies
- Load flows
- Fault studies
- Arc flash studies
- Earthing studies
- Harmonic studies

Carries out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal

standards.
