Entomologist / Horticulturist

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage insect husbandry and breeding programs for predatory and other beneficial insect species.
- Oversee insect rearing facilities, ensuring optimal colony health, productivity, and quality control.
- Design, implement, and monitor insect release programs in commercial farms.
- Conduct field trials to evaluate effectiveness of biological control agents.
- Provide technical support and guidance to farmers on insect release, crop management, and IPM strategies.
- Monitor pest populations and plant health outcomes to optimise release schedules.
- Implement and improve insect & plant breeding and husbandry systems.
- Maintain records of breeding, rearing and field performance data.
- Ensure compliance with biosecurity and environmental standards.

Preferred Skills:

- Prior experience in commercial insect breeding, IPM, plant cultivation or biological control.
- Experience in horticultural production systems (e.g. vegetables and fruit crops)
- Field research experience

**Requirements**:

- Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Entomology or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in developing and implementing insect and/or plant growing systems, knowledge on pest and plant disease management.
- Good communication and client consultation skills.
- Ability to conduct detailed inspections and environmental assessments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments or individually.
- Motivated self-learner willing to learn new skills.
