Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.

DESIGNATION : Senior Executive/Assistant Manager, Youth Engagement and Volunteer Management

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a passionate and creative person to join our team as a Youth Engagement and Volunteer Management Programmer, driving initiatives that are largely youth-led, and keeping volunteerism as a cornerstone of our museum experience. This innovative role empowers a young leader to develop and implement engaging programmes and festivals at Singapore Art Museum (SAM), fostering inspiration and learning among peers within the youth and volunteers.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with a team of artists and advisors to design and curate a variety of age-appropriate visual arts programmes, workshops, and events for youth, ensuring accessibility for participants.
- Develop curricula that aligns with SAM's goals that integrates creative thinking, problem-solving, and contemporary art knowledge, with a focus on youth interests, incorporating strategies for SAM's volunteer pool, and inclusive participation.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters artistic exploration, self-expression, peer mentorship, and celebrates diverse abilities.
- Lead engaging art instruction sessions, incorporating a variety of mediums and techniques, with a focus on youth-driven themes, collaborative creation, and incorporating adaptations for participants with varying needs.
- Identify and build relationships with teaching artists and volunteers from the youth community, with a focus on individuals who can contribute to accessible programming.
- Oversee the co-ordination and the implementation of the volunteer programme, keeping track of the data base, with regular check ins and communication with the volunteers.
- Oversee the set-up of events and programmes ensuring a safe, organised, and accessible environment for all participants.
- Assist with marketing and promoting visual arts programmes through youth-led social media campaigns and outreach efforts, ensuring messaging is inclusive and reaches diverse youth audiences.
- Track programme participation and measure programmes' success through evaluation methods tailored to youth engagement, including gathering feedback on accessibility features.
- Stay current on trends in visual arts education, youth development, and best practices for accessible programming.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Portfolio or experience in programming or visual arts.
- Minimum two year of experience working with or leading peers in an arts or educational setting, with a demonstrated understanding of access and inclusion.
- A passion for visual arts, a desire to share that passion with others, and a commitment to creating accessible programmes, carving space for youth-led initiatives and volunteering opportunities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and youth-centred learning environment that celebrates diverse abilities.
- Strong leadership potential and a commitment to youth empowerment.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with digital media and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with contemporary art and artists.
- Regularity in attending art events.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or knowledge of universal design principles.
