**What a Packaging Engineer does at HP**:

- Designs packaging engineering solutions for products and production tooling based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines, while ensuring cost effectiveness and quality.
- Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, forM/Fit/function, shock and vibration, and other engineering specifications and requirements.
- Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all assigned levels across engineering teams within the organization, managing information exchange as required.
- Works collaboratively with cross functional project team members and business peers to understand end-user requirements and propose engineering solutions for best user experience.
- Leads a project team of internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for moderately
- complex products.
- Develops understanding and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on engineering design and development.
- Contributes proactively to projects through research and data analysis support, providing regular updates on accomplishments and impediments.
- Organizes and documents findings of studies and prepares recommendations for implementation of new systems and procedures.

**Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess**:

- Degree in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 0-1 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design, engineering design tools and software packages, or a related field.
- Strong Packaging Engineering knowledge: Design, materials, testing, qualification, cost analysis and Package specifications.
- Strong program management and facilitation skills.
- Using TOPS, CAD, or other 3D CAD software as a design tool.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Cross-Org Skills: Effective Communication, Results Orientation, Learning Agility, Digital Fluency, Customer Centricity.
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
