Singapore Insider Inc Full time

Insider Inc. launched a global news bureau in Singapore in January 2021. We're a team of 12 people split across news, business, and lifestyle desks. We're hiring a paid intern (S$3,000 monthly) to write about life and culture for 6 months. This person will report to our life and culture editor, and they must be based in Singapore.

The life desk in Singapore answers questions like: What are millennials in China buying? What's the most fascinating real-estate story in Japan right now? What's the hottest new place to travel? How are parents in APAC preparing their kids for preschool? How has travel in Thailand changed because of the pandemic? What's going on with all of Malaysia's abandoned real-estate projects? What new status symbols are evolving among APAC's 1%?

That's in addition to covering any major lifestyle news that breaks in the US overnight. This is a lifestyle desk with business undertones, and we are looking to create, not follow, the news cycle. You can expect to support the bureau's senior reporters with research as well as produce articles under your own byline.
- Follows news networks across the APAC region on a daily basis
- Has a genuine interest in covering lifestyle
- Has a self-starter attitude and strong organizational skills
- Is excited about joining a small, growing team

All our editorial interns should have:

- Experience reporting and writing (school publications are great), AP style preferred
- A passion for digital storytelling
- Voracious reading habits
- Familiarity with digital and social media
- Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
- Light HTML and/or Photoshop experience
- Solid proofreading and copyediting skills

Please note: This paid internship requires that you are based in Singapore, open to working in part remotely, and preferably full-time at 40 hours a week, for six months.
