Purpose of the Job

To support the Head, Business Development in facilitating overall business strategy development to support the Group’s business growth and ensuring that the portfolio of businesses of the Group enjoys optimum / highest level of returns.

Required to undertake business intelligence to enhance industry knowledge and develop strategic insights to help Management understand the strategic implications of the business environment. The function is also required to perform competitor benchmarking to understand the Group’s position vis-a-vis competitors and customers’ strategic direction and focus to undertake fore-sighting and scenario development work to enhance Management’s worldview and understanding of business outlook and facilitate decision-making in positioning for strategic growth. The incumbent will work with the Head, Business Development of AET’s 5 year business plans and budgets.

Responsible to secure, develop and to financially and strategically evaluate opportunities including corporate commercial projects and strategic initiatives such as mergers, take-overs and joint ventures including but not limited to commercial projects requiring CAPEX and corporate wide non-commercial initiatives. In addition, the position may be required to undertake specific projects from time to time for business improvement and transformation

Key Accountabilities

Assists in developing and executing a strategic business plan and growth strategy that ensures attainment of company goals and profitability
Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking new developments and trends.
Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners, brokers; discovering and exploring opportunities.
Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments or project financing options.
Coordination with shipyards on commercial matters for new projects and existing vessel construction,
Sale and purchase of vessels
Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
Assist project teams for participation in commercial tenders/projects (including but not limited to potential acquisitions) by liaising and working together with the various divisions within the company, the shipyards and the relevant external parties in formulating an execution plan and to ensure a successful and effective execution
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Support VP Business Development to initiate and nurture relationships with selected customers at Management level to better understand their strategic direction and focus
Prepare relevant reports and papers for submission to AET Board / Shareholder

Requirement

**Qualifications include**:
**Education**:
**Minimum**: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred (other disciplines include Economics, Law, Finance)

**Ideal**: MBA degree or Masters Degree in Maritime related discipline / Member of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers or equivalent

**Professional Certification**: (if required. Example: CPA, CIMA, ACCA)

**Experience**: 5 - 8 years of relevant finance, commercial experience with some direct experience in the shipping/ transportation/ logistics industry function Ideal Experience in business development.

**Specialized knowledge**: Good financial acumen and understanding of financial modelling is essential. Some working knowledge of business and contract law

**Skills and Abilities**: Customer Management Experience Commercial Project / Business Development Experience Able to develop business case & financial modelling / Analysis Good Presentation skills, Project Management skills, Negotiation skills
