**The Role**

Waves Group are seeking a consultant civil engineer with specialist knowledge and experience of the ports and harbours sector.
- Feasibility studies and general consultancy;
- Visual inspection and assessment of damage to port and harbour infrastructure;
- Investigation of damage and causation;
- Preparation of written assessments of damage, causation, and repair strategies;
- Preparation of cost estimates;
- Assessment of existing port infrastructure and equipment;
- Preparation of expert advice for purposes of arbitration, dispute resolution, etc.;
- Assistance and involvement with claim settlement;
- Close interaction and co-operation with other Waves Group offices;
- Project management.

The Singapore office is at present a 4-person team. Waves Group intend to grow our business and team in Singapore over the next 5 years. The role will therefore involve a proactive approach to building upon our existing network of shipping and marine insurance industry contacts within the region in order to further expand our business and client base. This will include attendance at industry events in Singapore, maintaining and fostering client relationships and periodic visits to existing and prospective clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering and preferably a chartered civil engineer with an internationally recognised professional organisation
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in the design or construction of port and harbour structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to travel internationally at short notice
- Enthusiasm, motivation, and drive to deliver a top-quality service
- Self-sufficient and able to work independently
- Good team player and able to contribute to a dynamic group
- Highly organised - with the ability to work under pressure when required and to manage and prioritise their own workload

This is a permanent staff position based in Singapore.
