Senior Credit Risk Analyst

Focusing on Non-Bank Financial Institutions, you will be responsible for executing credit risk policies, procedures and processes to enable the successful management of credit risks for the organisation.

You will develop and maintain credit risk policies which will include executing credit risk policies and procedures; ensuring the alignment of operational practices to articulated credit risk positions and identifying emerging market trends and regulations which may impact credit risk and policies.

You will address queries related to credit risk policies and procedures, and will maintain credit risk-related documentation and resources on credit risk policies. You will also practise responsible lending and credit activities by assessing Environmental, Social and Governance factors in credit-related approvals and reviews.

You will conduct credit risk assessment and management activities, and will utilise credit models to identify expected loan loss and other risks. You will perform periodic checks, security monitoring, portfolio reviews and regular compliance checks, and will keep the management abreast of early material warning signals. You will also identify loans for inclusion within the workout strategies and will monitor accounts with flagged indicators for credit default and/or missed payments. You will process waiver and amendment requests and provide independent recommendation to management.

You will manage the credit portfolios within credit risk appetite and limits and will develop expertise in the assigned business segment in order to be able to provide independent recommendations. You will work closely with the assigned business segment units in the conduct of credit activity and will monitor and document key success measures for credit risk protection to identify possible inadequacies.

You will support the execution of the credit approval processes and will generate financial ratios to evaluate the client’s financial status. You will identify market conditions and/or trends and their possible impact to the organisation’s credit risk exposure and appetite, as well as evaluate and analyse client accounts to determine suitable credit recovery plans.

You will monitor and report on credit risk portfolios, as well as monitor the loan portfolio quality by way of news monitoring, periodic reviews and ensure current loan loss provisions, internal ratings and account grading reflect the current state of the credit/ asset quality. You will highlight potential credit risks by monitoring early warning indicators and participate in the quarterly portfolio review exercise for the region and ensure follow-up of identified actions.

You will draft credit-related reports detailing deviations from set credit limits, counterparty ratings, exposures and concentrations as well as examine past financial records against current loan portfolio performance to identify patterns and trends.

Pre-requisites

Tertiary education

Minimum 7 - 10 years of relevant work experience

Strong exposure to and understanding of credit analysis methodologies and credit risk management regulations

Able to work independently with minimum supervision

Strong communicator and influencer who can work in a fast-paced environment

Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and an eye for detail
