We are seeking a reporter to cover currencies and interest rates, with a particular focus on the yen and Japanese government bonds. The role requires someone with the versatility to pivot between big enterprise stories about the macro trends driving global markets, and regular coverage of trading in the yen and JGBs. With the Bank of Japan in the midst of a shift in interest-rate policy, market volatility is high, providing a wealth of opportunities to write impactful stories. We are looking for a self-starter who thrives on developing sources to break news and unpick the inner workings of the markets in real-time. You'll be fast and accurate, and also an adaptable teammate who enjoys working under deadline and is ready and willing to commit to connect the dots for our readers and build quick insights into compelling, thoughtful stories for a sophisticated and informed audience. **We'll trust you to**: - Develop and tap a broad network of market players for insights and scoops - Deliver concise stories to explain market flows and analyze trends - Generate and craft stories that capture "what's happening and why" and "what it means" - against the backdrop of local and global trends - Tap Bloomberg data and analytics to tell visually appealing stories - Collaborate across the newsroom **You'll need to have**: - At least 5 years of experience as a Financial reporter or experience in Finance as a trader or strategist - Experience covering FX/Rates markets as a reporter, trader or strategist - Experience covering the Japanese market as a reporter, trader or strategist - Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast paced environment - Proficiency in both spoken and written English - Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization - Ability to develop and maintain sources - A Collaborative team spirit, the drive to innovate and a strong work ethic - Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications **We'd love to see**: - Proficiency in both spoken and written Japanese Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
