The Technician performs skilled, non-licensed optical engineering work, supervisory work and repetitive manual work; including visual inspection, machine operations, tool designs, drafting, production materials inspection/maintenance and related engineering support responsibilities. Work is usually performed independently without direct supervision. Dynamic, respectful, hardworking, inquisitive and flexible/versatile character is preferred.

Examples:

- To execute consistent tasks in accordance to (coating) work-flows and able to avoid mistakes by being careful/prudent and self-confirming each task before execution.
- Promptly highlight any process drifts or issues, so that appropriate actions can be taken.
- To co-execute tests and designs with engineers while juggling daily work, greatly assisting the development efforts of the company.
- Develops novel methods together with colleagues and engineers, utilizing specialised equipment (interferometers, spectrophotometers, light detection system and etc) and computer software (Filmstar).
- Oversees and be responsible for expediting and/or executing work for incoming and outgoing products in own area of expertise.
- Supervisory mentoring to lesser skilled colleagues/engineers or subordinates.
- Assists co-production colleagues in expediting or in-situ part management/tracking.
- Collects data to share with colleagues and engineers to formulate process
- To be diligent in work and share difficulties with colleagues
- Communicate and coordinate with others daily, to plan and ensure no mistakes.
- To perform shift-work as and when the project or responsibility requires.
- In order to complete certain job tasks on-time, longer and unstable work hours (OT) must be performed.
- To perform daily 5S work, include cleaning of common areas.
- To perform job rotation-work so as to facilitate manpower shortages.
- To be rigorously careful in handling fragile glass products which can also be hazardous when broken.
- To obey and advocate safety measures and safety instructions.
- Preferably with 5 years experience in optics related manufacturing work.
- Knowledge with PVD coating machines (Leybold, OptoRun, Denton, Balzers) are greatly preferred.
- Knowledge with coating software Filmstar or Macleod are greatly preferred.
