**JOB SUMMARY**

You will conduct operational R&D and laboratory support services in accordance to safety regulations / infection control policies and procedures stipulated by Infectious Disease Research Laboratory (IDRL), NCID for the Programme for Research in Epidemic Preparedness and Response (PREPARE) and other off-site PREPARE-associated laboratories. This will include experimental investigations in BSL2/2+ and BSL3 laboratories.**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan and conduct experiments and laboratory services related to PREPARE, such as pathogen isolation and culture, nucleic acid extraction, PCR and sequencing etc., in consultation with the supervising Scientific Officer.
- Process and characterize PREPARE-related pathogen and clinical samples.
- Plan and order laboratory supplies and reagents as required for PREPARE activities.
- Assist in general IDRL laboratory and equipment management.
- Assist in general IDRL sample collection and storage activities.
- Assist in the development, implementation and revision of standard operating procedure(s) for department.
- Maintain proper documentation of relevant research documents, inventories, protocols, maintenance logs, sample processing logs etc.
- Assist in planning and ordering of laboratory logistic requirements, workflow, documentation and execution of new studies, liaising with internal and external parties as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisors and HOD, including work areas not mentioned here.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor of Science or Advanced Diploma preferably with a relevant major e.g. biomedical science, infectious disease or immunology.
- 2 to 5 years of working experience in BSL2/ BSL3 environment and is familiar with basic virology and immunological techniques e.g. virus and cell culture, virus titration and neutralization assays, ELISA, flow cytometry.
- Must be willing to work within BSL2-3 laboratory environment with RG2-3 organisms. Prior experience working in the BSL2 and BSL3 environment would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with whole genome sequencing techniques would be an advantage.
- Able to work effectively in a team and willing to go beyond routine work responsibilities and office hours during exigencies of service (e.g. respond to national emergencies, ID outbreak).
