Job Overview:
The z/OS Administrator is responsible for the management, maintenance, upgrades and optimization of z/OS mainframe systems in an organization. This role involves implementing best practices, ensuring system security, performing upgrades, monitoring system health, and addressing technical issues to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of mainframe infrastructure.

**Responsibilities**:
Installation and Configuration:
Install, configure, maintain and upgrade z/OS operating system and related software.

Set up and manage hardware components, including storage devices, processors, and networking.

Configure system parameters and resources to optimize performance.

System Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.

Analyze performance metrics and make adjustments to improve efficiency.

Implement performance tuning techniques to enhance system responsiveness.

Security and Compliance:
Implement security measures to safeguard mainframe systems and data.

Manage user access controls, authentication, and authorization.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational security policies.

Backup and Recovery:
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for mainframe data.

Perform routine backups and validate restoration processes.

Plan and execute disaster recovery tests to ensure data integrity.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
Identify and resolve technical issues and system failures promptly.

Investigate and diagnose hardware and software problems.

Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve cross-functional issues.

Patch Management and Upgrades:
Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations.

Test compatibility of new software versions with existing infrastructure.

Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.

Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.

Automation and Scripting:
Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks and processes.

Streamline administrative tasks using scripting languages and automation tools.

Collaboration and Communication:
Communicate effectively to convey technical information and updates to relevant parties.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture.

Proficiency in programming/scripting languages used in mainframe environments.

Familiarity with system monitoring and performance analysis tools.

Experience in security protocols and practices for mainframe systems.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
