Senior Engineer

You will be part of a successful multi-skilled support team to maintain the FX environment’s reputation for reliability and stability and play a key role on our re-platforming project.

The essential responsibilities of the Platforms Engineer:

- Collaborate with Architects on analysis and design for project work.
- Technically lead larger or technically complex projects.
- Develop and deliver high quality work to deliver the Project and BAU work to the agreed timescale.
- Investigate problem reports raised on Development or Production servers.
- Ensure configuration management processes are followed for deliverables and improved where deficiencies are identified.
- Mentor other team members to increase their skill-set.
- Participate in some out of hours work to support to Production maintenance / updates.
- Ensure work is properly documented to enable the Platforms Team to function efficiently.
- Identify and implement improvements to the method of working for the Platforms Team.
- Maintain and improve the tools used by the Platforms Team.

Required skills are:

- Experience in platforms and system management on a variety of platforms preferably RedHat Linux.
- Experience in low latency focused environments with an understanding of analytical tools an advantage (Corvil, c-Packet etc).
- Strong understanding of connectivity and networking principles.
- System management experience of working on a mission critical infrastructure where quality, resilience and performance are essential to maintain the reputation of the product.
- Strong Linux scripting and Perl exposure.
- Develop automated installation packages.
- Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills.
- Works well in a global multi-skilled team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly understand wider impacts of changes and technical issues.
