**Job Summary**: Head of Sustainability, Data Centres, APAC

Our client is a well funded start up with projects underway in Asia Pacific. They build, own and operate facilities with a key emphasis on sustainability. Reporting into the CEO, they require an experienced Sustainability professional, with the fire and drive of working within a start-up, to join and run this vertical of the business.

Responsibilities may include:

- Sustainability Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the company's vision and goals, with a particular focus on data centre operations in the APAC market.
- ESG Compliance and Reporting: Stay up-to-date with the latest sustainability regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements in the region. Oversee the ESG reporting process and ensure compliance with relevant standards and frameworks.
- Power Purchase Agreements (PPA): Identify and pursue suitable PPA opportunities to procure renewable energy for our data centres. Collaborate with stakeholders to negotiate and secure favorable agreements that support the company's renewable energy objectives.
- Environmental Impact Mitigation: Lead efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of our data centres through the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction strategies, and water conservation initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to foster collaboration and promote sustainability best practices.
- Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability metrics and regularly monitor, analyze, and report on the progress towards sustainability goals to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Internal Sustainability Education: Develop and deliver training programs to internal teams to raise awareness and understanding of sustainability practices and their importance within the data centre industry.
- Innovation and Research: Stay informed about emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices, and proactively identify opportunities to integrate them into our data centre development projects.
- Risk Management: Assess and manage potential sustainability-related risks and provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies to ensure long-term operational resilience.

Requirements may include:

- Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree in sustainability, environmental studies, energy management, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in a sustainability-focused role, preferably within the data centre or renewable energy industry, with a strong track record of success in ESG compliance and power purchase agreements.
- Market Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the APAC market, including regulatory landscape, renewable energy incentives, and sustainability best practices in the region.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey sustainability initiatives to stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data-driven approach to assess the impact of sustainability initiatives and make informed decisions.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify sustainability challenges and develop innovative solutions to address them.
