Cloud Application Architect

BS level technical degree required; Computer Science or Math background preferred
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to lead effectively across organizations
- Current hands-on software development experience required; Internet-related business models preferred
- Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
- Deep hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale
- Highly technical and analytical, possessing 7 or more years of IT implementation experience
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
- Customer facing skills to represent AWS well within the customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation

Job summary

AWS Professional Services engages in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners, spanning diverse technologies across multiple industries. The Application Modernization Practice collaborates across the entire AWS organization to deliver the best solutions for customers, connect with AWS product and service teams, and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs. As trusted customer advocates, the Practice helps organisations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate and/or re-develop existing workloads in the cloud. You will help shape, execute, and deliver solutions for a broad range of customer use cases primarily from large enterprise customers.
- Working as a technical leader alongside cross functional teams of customer business, development and infrastructure teams;
- Providing deep software development knowledge with respect cloud architecture, design patterns and programming;
- Advising and implementing AWS best practices;
- Implementing DevOps practices such as infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration and Automated Deployment.

- Experience working directly with customers, partners or third-party developers;
- Good exposure to Agile software development and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and automated deployment; Continuous Integration (CI) tools (e.g. Jenkins);
- Experience with configuration management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible)
- Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX, HIPPA etc.)
