Assistant Professor of Climate

ACADEMIC FACULTY APPOINTMENT: The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine

An Assistant Professor of Climate and Environmental Health at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is expected to contribute to the development of research and teaching at the School. He/she is expected to undertake high quality internationally leading research in the area of climate change and environmental health within the Population/Global Health Research Programme, in line with the overarching research strategy of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, in addition to any other duties as assigned by the Vice Dean, Research and Dean.

Key Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

- The appointee will be expected to undertake high quality research in the area of climate change and environmental health, in line with the research strategy of the School and NTU Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH), and in conjunction with other recent appointments, obtain research funding and supervise research staff and students.
- The appointee will be expected to develop an interdisciplinary climate epidemiology group with primary research interests in using climate observation and simulation, AI, and large population health dataset to identify the risk factors that lead to complex diseases in humans, with a particular emphasis on the health projection for adaptation purpose and burden mitigation at local, regional and global levels.
- The appointee will actively engage with the local and global research communities, pursue competitive research funding opportunities from diverse sources, and contribute strategically to national research initiatives
- The appointee will lead the integration of climate change and environmental health science across the MBBS curriculum, while delivering innovative teaching by using team-based learning, e-learning, and other learner-centred approaches to both medical undergraduates and postgraduate research students, and ensuring the curriculum is delivered to the highest standard.

Primary Activities:

- Seek competitive grant and collaborative industry funding to develop a sustainable research programme.
- Contribute to, support and develop teaching and educational activity at undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop and support research projects (including interdisciplinary) with other faculty in the field of Population/Global Health Research Programme and Climate Science at LKCMedicine and across the wider NTU community such as CCEH.
- Supervise and mentor junior faculty members and research staff
- Participate in academic committees and meet other administrative requirements as appropriate.

Person Specification
- Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:_
- MBBS/MD and/or PhD degree(s)
- Relevant postdoctoral experience in medical school
- Excellence and significant experience in research and teaching with a high level of scientific achievement, productivity and impact in the field of climate change and environmental health.
- A strong track record of securing and managing research funding in the fields of climate change and environmental health is highly desirable.
- Demonstration of a strong adaptation in local research environment.
