Emergency Pocketbook Content Manager

**BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT**:
**ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
As the manager of WFP’s emergency content, the incumbent is the manager of all knowledge related to implementing an emergency response, across functional areas. The incumbent will:

- Manage the continuous review of content to ensure the Pocketbook is up to date with the latest protocols, delegations of authority, and guidance:

- Proactively monitor release of new manuals, directives, and circulars.
- Coordinate with functional areas to update content when required.
- Where functional owners are unable to and/or there is a gap in functional ownership, develop the content.
- Liaise with staff deploying to the field to collect feedback on existing content and identify gap areas.
- Coordinate the revision or develop the new content, as needed.
- Engage with other divisions / functional areas to inform their guidance as relates to emergencies, to ensure coherence and support that any policies and guidance coming out of HQ are aligned to the realities of emergency operation implementation in the field.

Ensure that content is presented and available for users, as needed by the field:

- Liaise with IT team in the Emergency Division to strengthen user experience (App, Manuals online platform) based on feedback from the field.
- Manage the limited release of the Emergency Pocketbook print version and subsequent updates (if needed, depending on user experience and feedback from field operators).

Capacity development:

- Coordinate with Emergency training division to support the review, update, and development (when needed) of foundations training courses and simulations.
- Act as Subject-Matter-Expert and/or trainer when needed, for online and in-person trainings and simulations. Where needed, support Regional Bureaux and/or Country Officers in their training content development / implementation.
- Coordinate with functional areas to support functional-specific training development and implementation, to avoid differing guidance (eg: with Programme Learning Journey).

Inter-agency:

- Liaise with inter-agency counterparts to exchange learning from different agencies guidance and knowledge management approaches (eg UNHCR App).
- Liaise with partners, eg Food Security Cluster and Humanitarian Partnerships Network, to explore appetite for making parts of WFP’s emergency guidance accessible externally.

OTHER:
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
**Education**:
Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.

**Experience**:
Minimum of 5-7 years relevant professional work experience in implementation, coordination and management of emergency response as an emergency generalist. Experience working with WFP, or NGOs or UN humanitarian agency in the field (country or sub-office experience required). Demonstrated successful experience in the development of content for field users. Clear understanding of humanitarian principles.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Must be: Proactive self-starter, able to operate with mínimal guidance and oversight, and able and willingness to identify opportunities to continuously improve products for the field
- Strong writing capacity, with ability to develop concise, clear and simple messaging for operators with different language skills, and the ability to adjust messaging to different products and users
- Understanding of the humanitarian context and culture, ability to work well with people from different cultural backgrounds and technical skills
- Ability to train / capacitate staff and partners
- Willingness to travel and if needed, deploy

**Languages**:
Fluency (level C) in English language. Knowledge of Spanish, French or Arabic a strong asset.
