Systems Specialist

**What Will You Do?**

As a Systems Specialist, you will be part of a team to support the following areas:

- Learn and understand critical proprietary business systems built /running in the Mainframe.
- Maintain all system & sub-system environments in compliance with the security guidelines.
- Assist with testing, implementation, and installation of each sub-system and associated software.
- Diagnose and resolve environment system abends and abnormal operating problems using system logs, and other available logs and documents.
- Develop/Maintain/Improve in-house programs and utilities in COBOL, REXX and SAS.
- Have an understanding and experience of IBM SMP/E environment and ability to use SMP/E to install software.
- Maintain system documentation.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotation basis which at times require work outside of normal business hours to support critical tasks.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery Operations
- Raise and follow up on any problem cases with software vendors until issues are resolved.
- Ability to work on project teams, delivering on key project milestones, and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Manage mainframe communications in areas such as VTAM, TCPIP and TN3270 etc, including customization to HDB standards through activities such as maintenance, problem resolution, security compliance or z/OS upgrade.

**Technical Support and Administration of CICS**
- Administer CICS in a CICSPlex environment.
- Tune CICS configuration to ensure CICS does not encounter storage shortages and/or any other system performance issues.
- Provide proactive and automate monitoring of DB2 and CICS using tools such as TMON/CICS CA SYSView for DB2 and Netview etc to meet high availability standards in a 24x7 operating environment.
- Conduct impact analysis, strategize, plan and execute upgrade to new versions of CICS

**Technical Support and Administration of DB2**
- Administer DB2 Subsystems in a DB2 data sharing environment.
- Review and configure DB2 configuration (zparm) to ensure settings are appropriate and will provide optimum operating behaviour for DB2 onsite.
- Provide performance-tuning to DB2 on z/OS to ensure mission critical software are running efficiently.
- Conduct impact analysis, strategize, plan and execute upgrade to new versions of DB2 database.

**You will be a Great Fit if you have**:

- Strong background in IT/ Computer Science / Computer Engineering or Related
- Strong z/OS skills in all IBM utilities and mainframe communication services in TCPIP, VTAM and TN3270
- Strong understanding of access methods and VSAM Record Level Sharing.
- Software: TSO ISPF, JCL, DFSMS, HSM, DSS, DFP, IBM utilities, CA1, DB2, CICS, COBOL, MQ
- Ability to work in teams, delivering on key project milestones, and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Must be able to work beyond business hours including weekend, when necessary
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience is preferred.
- Have good command of written and oral English.
