Sompo Holdings (Asia) Pte. Ltd. ("SHDA") was established as a regional headquarters (Head office is in Japan) responsible for management, planning and development of non life insurance businesses in Asia ex Japan. The need for this role responds to the strategic priorities of Sompo and its ambition to become a top ten global (re) insure. Executing these plans safely requires continuous evolution of our risk management capabilities; with the risk function playing a critical role in supporting the business to execute its risk strategy including defining appetites, providing risk intelligence and portfolio management tools, as well as the ongoing monitoring and management of the Company’s financial and operational resilience. **Principal Accountabilities** - To support the Group CRO in providing ongoing assurance regarding the operational and financial resilience of our Asia businesses. - To promote a positive risk culture and strong risk awareness across our network of CROs and functions in Asia. - To support the successful growth of our business across Asia by providing an effective risk advisory service to the Asia CEO as part of their leadership team. - To build a small team of risk specialists in the Asia regional headquarters capable of delivering effective risk oversight across the region and providing risk management support services to individual businesses as required. - Oversight of risk governance activities of each country, including review of any key policy and/or appetite changes. - Working with country CROs to develop risk governance and reporting practices with a focus on ensuring they are consistent with the size and profile of each entity, local regulatory expectations, and group standards. - Working with country CROs to develop highly effective operational risk management practices with a focus on establishing an open risk culture across the region with an emphasis on learning and continuous improvement. - Working as an extension of the Group exposure management function to ensure the effective identification, assessment, and management of accumulation risks across Asia. - To establish and deliver a comprehensive talent management and risk management training program across Asia. Key attributes: - Experienced risk leader with a strong track record in this space. - Strong communication skills with the ability to operate fluently and effectively within a diverse multinational organization. - Willingness to constructively challenge as a critical friend and partner to the business. - Ability to think critically through issues and focus the attention of the business on the most impactful decisions. - Proven ability to lead and develop a team with a strong desire to leave a lasting impact on talent within the region. **Requirement** ・At least 10 years of Risk Management experience ・At least 30 years Experience of non-life insurance business ・Fluent Japanese language skill (written, spoken, and reading - requiring JLPT N1 level) due to liaising with headquarters in Japan.
