The incumbent will be responsible for providing quality healthcare to the patients. He or she shall act as patient advocates to promote appropriate health-seeking behaviours and help patients navigate the healthcare system in Singapore. They will complement locally trained healthcare professionals to perform key roles in team-based care, such as patient education on healthy lifestyle and disease management, mental health support and medication management.

**Primary Responsibilities and Duties (Baseline Scope)**
- Health education and promotion
- Mental health first aid
- Simple procedures
- Triaging and case escalation
- Real-time translation in native languages
- Case management and follow-up

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate competence in all clinical functions of the baseline scope of practice, based on their past clinical practice. This includes being certified in BCLS and AED and assessed competent in basic infection and prevention and control practices.

The incumbent will be accountable for all aspects of the patient care decisions, actions and omissions under the direct supervision of a fully registered medical practitioner, and remain up to date with knowledge and skills required for safe patient care.

The incumbent must be able to ensure that the:

- Medication prescribed under the approved formulary are safe and effective for the patient under their care and the condition being treated;
- Potential influence from the patients, colleagues and pharmaceutical industry that may result in inappropriate prescribing are recognised and managed;
- Decisions must be based on an objective assessment of clinical needs and the likely effectiveness of treatment options; and
- Choice of medication for the patient is evidence-based and determined based on clinical suitability and cost effectiveness.
- If the incumbent meets the entry requirements of the core local training programmes, has undergone the programmes and passed relevant assessments, he or she will be allowed to perform larger roles in the expanded scope of practice which includes but not limited to the activities shown below.
