**The Opportunity**

This role is based in Singapore and reports to the Engineering Lead for Recommendation Systems.

**Key Responsibilities**

**System Design & Engineering**
- Build scalable, modular backend services to support real-time recommendation workflows.
- Translate recommendation algorithms into production-ready services with clean abstractions and high reliability.
- Collaborate with data scientists to turn models into robust, scalable APIs.

**Performance Optimization**
- Improve latency and throughput of core recommendation service components.
- Monitor and tune system performance, handling high-traffic environments with confidence.
- Identify opportunities for architectural improvements and implement new engineering best practices.

**Tech Exploration**
- Explore and integrate emerging technologies in AI, ML, and personalization.
- Evaluate third-party tools and frameworks to accelerate innovation and reduce complexity.
- Drive experimentation to continuously improve recommendation accuracy and system efficiency.

**Team Collaboration**
- Work closely with product, data science, and infrastructure teams to ship high-impact features.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and sprint planning.
- Communicate effectively across teams and time zones.

**Qualifications**

**Must-Haves**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related fields.
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally Python or Java.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix environments and backend frameworks such as Django or Spring.
- Experience working on recommendation systems or similar data-heavy platforms.
- Clear communicator with solid written and spoken English skills.

**Nice-to-Haves**
- Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Exposure to cloud environments like AWS.
- Interest in social networking, dating apps, or personalization at scale.
