Singapore COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIA Full time

This position will support the Global Syndicate team in working with Asia Sales, Trading and Debt Capital Markets to bring new primary bond issues into the Asian market. The role provides an opportunity to bridge the Australasian and European time zones on transactions, creating the opportunity to be contribute towards the execution of multi-asset classed deals.

As Senior Associate/Associate Global Syndicate Asia your key responsibilities will be:

- To run the Asian MTN desk, including marketing and executing opportunities for CBA clients in CD, ECP and MTN space.
- Liaise and maintain dialogue with key issuer clients (e.g. Chinese/ Korean/ Singaporean banks) in the region in order to keep abreast of funding plans/needs with a view towards execution of private placement transactions
- Drafting of term sheets, indicative pricing runs, trade ideas, market announcements and maintenance of pricing databases
- Support the book building process for public bond issues across both domestic AUD and international issues.
- Monitor and co-ordinate the transaction management activities post-pricing to include liaison with settlements and Bloomberg, transaction bookings as well as support Origination in documenting of private placement transactions, as required.
- Manage risk of syndicate residual positions and subsequent sell-down in compliance with internal holding period and risk limits
- Develop a solid understanding of new issue pricing mechanics and hedging requirements with a view towards gradually taking on larger and more complex transactions
- Co-operate with Debt Capital Markets in support of regular pitches for public bond mandates by assisting with indicative pricing discussion
- Aiding with the general marketing to clients of the Bank’s international capabilities. This may require travel.

**We’re interested in hearing from people who have**:

- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in financial markets working in syndicate, MTN desk, treasury, trading, structured credit or sales role.
- Strong product knowledge and sales skills to include pricing of fixed income securities, relative value, risk management and pricing of derivatives (IRS and CCS). Previous experience managing risk positions is desirable.
- Strong analytical, numerical and problem solving skills, as well as top notch communication, presentation and verbal reasoning skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the Asian credit landscape and interactions between issuers and key investors
- High energy, motivated individual, able to operate at pace and without guidance and bring a growth and sales mindset to drive development of this particular role
- Strong IT skills to include MS Office and Bloomberg; VBA and basic programming an advantage
- Tertiary qualification in finance or business related field
- Fluency in business level English and an Asian Language (Mandarin preferred)
- Financial Markets Regulatory Practices (FMRP) Examination*
- IBF Module 1B, 4A/4B and 6A Examination (*may be obtained subsequent to joining)
- Previous experience in Fixed Income Trading, Sales, Debt Capital Markets or Syndicate (Desirable)
