Regional Submarine Construction Lead

Minimum qualifications:

- 10 years of technical program management experience and working cross-functionally.
- 8 years of people management experience.
- Experience in financial analysis including modeling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Experience with telecom submarine cable fiber optic design and installation, including manufacturing process, quality assurance, marine best practices, and safety.

Preferred qualifications:

- Advanced degree (i.e., Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, PhD, etc.) in an engineering or other technical field.
- Solid organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a data-driven analytical approach to solving complex challenges.

Our team builds and operates the global subsea network used by Google. We partner with global internal stakeholders and external partners to create supply agreements and execute construction under these agreements. This includes marine planning, contract creation, budget control, whilst working with Finance, Legal, Architecture, and Compliance.

In this role you will drive fiber optic submarine cable projects for the Global Network Services team. You will use your understanding of the Google Network and your expertise in marine survey, marine installation, manufacturing, permitting, optical transport, outside plant fibers, and telecommunications industry best-practices to lead cross-functional teams in driving the genesis and completion of submarine cable projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- Act as regional lead for the team by managing the overall regional portfolio of projects, driving strategic projects, and mentoring the team for success and growth.
- Communicate with internal business owners to collect drivers and deadlines for delivering submarine construction projects.
- Collaborate with partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive the construction of submarine cable systems, including tendering process, selection of vendors, creation of plan of work, spent budget, and technical review of design, manufacturing, and installation plans.
- Ensure we are able to deliver the necessary assets and capacity in a timely and cost effective manner in order to land submarine cable systems.
