The mission of the Youth Preventive Service (YPS) of the Health Promotion Board (HPB) is to promote good health and reduce illness among schoolchildren. There are also upstream efforts to reduce obesity prevalence among Singapore students. Youth Preventive Health Service Division (YPHSD) is one of the 3 divisions under YPS. The services provided by the YPHSD include health screening and immunisation for the children and youth in Singapore. YPHSD has 4 departments namely School Health Service, Student Health Centre, Student Wellness Service and Nursing Service.

You will be a part of HPB’s Student Wellness Service Department, to provide leadership to the teams administering school-based and clinic-based weight management programmes for overweight and severely overweight students, severely underweight students as well as for normal weight students with borderline BMI measurement. The job holder will report to Deputy Director, Student Wellness Service.

**What You Can Expect**

As Assistant Director of the Department, you will support the Deputy Director in the conceptualisation, planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation of children and youth weight management strategies and programmes in the Student Health Centre (SHC), schools and community settings.

These programmes are aimed at the overweight and underweight children and youth and involves key stakeholders such as parents, educators, healthcare professionals, public sector partners (e.g MOE, ECDA, SportSG) and the private sector (e.g. food companies) to empower these children and youth to adopt healthy lifestyle practices and achieve a healthy weight, thereby reducing childhood obesity and underweight prevalence in Singapore. You will establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to align strategies and jointly implement weight management programmes.

As part of the role, you will also plan training programmes and health materials to raise awareness to the media and target stakeholders and ensure that health information remains evidence-based health promotion practice. More i mportantly, you will plan and identify research opportunities to ensure that wight management programmes remains evidence-informed health promotion practice.
