Resident Physician, Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery is embedded within the National University Hospital on the same campus, and provides tertiary and quaternary care to patients with the relevant conditions. Our programs constitute National and International Centres of Excellence, including:
- Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery program
- Transcatheter, Endovascular and Hybrid Surgery program
- Uniport VATS and Thoracic Cancer Surgery program
- Aortic Surgery program
- An-aortic Coronary Artery Revascularisation program
The Resident Physician would be part of the multidisciplinary team providing day-to-day patient care in adult cardiac surgery, involved in both outpatient and inpatient areas, assisting in invasive and non-invasive investigations or procedures.
The Resident Physician would also be assisting in all aspects of pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care in adult cardiac surgery including assistance in clinics, operating theatres, day-to-day ward rounds and on call duties.
Furthermore, a Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Simulation program and syllabus trains the Resident Physician along a faster learning curve to acquisition of the necessary skills. Our weekly schedule entails hands-on surgeries of all types, educational events, patient presentations and post-operative debriefs, mortality and morbidity meetings and a rich variety of planned or ad hoc educational events.
**Job Requirements**
- Eligible for Conditional Registration with Singapore Medical Council
- Minimum 3 year of clinical work experience and 1 year of experience in Adult Cardiac Surgery
- Possess a Basic Medical Degree and Postgraduate Medical qualification(s) recognised by the Singapore Medical Council
- Prior work experience in an acute hospital setting
- Keen interest and/or credentials in research would be an advantage
- Good oral and written communication skills
