**About the Position**

At Whispir, the Head of Engineering and Architecture is a senior individual contributor role in the Engineering and Architecture team that defines the broader technical strategy against the vision, set by the CTO, in collaboration with the Principal Product Manager and other Senior Product and Technology roles.

**Key Responsibilities**

First and foremost, as the Head of Engineering and Architecture you will be responsible for devising, implementing, and overseeing the engineering strategy and outcomes for the Whispir platform and connected ecosystem.
- Driving technical definition, strategy, and long term vision for the products we build and how we scale them
- Identify the biggest problems to solve and drive modern engineering solutions and outcomes across the teams
- Working closely with delivery teams in becoming aware of problems around the corner and drive evolutionary change through influential leadership practices and appropriate governance structures
- Develop key product and commercial vision understanding and develop strategies that unlock those opportunities
- Proactively assist in setting the product delivery roadmap and incorporate an evolutionary approach to modernisation and engineering
- Research global communication platforms trends and evaluating with stakeholders to determine if and how to be incorporated into the roadmap
- Lead the Enterprise Architecture function and other architectural functions as required
- Evaluate internal functions, business development strategies, and IT processes
- Proactively drive the ideation and exploration of new ideas. as well as iterate on new or existing products/features based on feedback and data.
- Proactively manage key stakeholders on short, mid and longer term initiatives and communicate with all audiences - within teams, company, to users, press etc.
- Lead a number of major initiatives to build alignment and cohesion across pods/teams/domains/offerings
- Establish success metrics, be outcome driven, test and measure everything, take ownership of the results, track critical metrics and use them to drive celebration and improvement opportunities
- Coach and mentor others in engineering thinking and other strength areas. Oversee the formation and operation of Communities of Interest/Tribes in the area of engineering and architecture.
- Develop and operate an engineering career development model

**About You**
- A great leader, influencer and an ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- A thought leader who can bring programmatic approaches to tackle complex issues both internationally and externally
- A strong toolkit to draw on for mobilising and navigating successful outcomes in SaaS and/or CPaaS environments
- A great communicator, influencer and an ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders from developer to executives
- A bias towards user and customer-centered outcomes to define and create value, as well supporting scalable, secure and cost efficient solutions
- A proven ability to work within long-term time frames and anticipate opportunities or problems that are likely to arise
- A strong collaborator with others. Seeks to listen and learn from others at all levels
- Excellent knowledge of AWS and modern engineering practices
- Has a strong appetite for understanding industry trends and participating with technical communities within a given industry
- A background of working in software businesses, preferably global SaaS organisations
