**Job Description**:
The Lead Architect is a senior technologist with demonstrated experience and interest in modern compute and storage offerings across varying environments.

**Essential Functions**:

- Lead research and design efforts for compute and storage domains
- Propose designs that meet the requirements of multiple concepts, and explain choices made to balance security, performance, cost, and reliability
- Responsible for intake and solutioning phase of new system technologies
- Collaborate with Solution Architects to meet internal customer requirements related to infrastructure
- Design and automate solutions and services in the Visa ecosystem
- Work closely with the other Architecture and Engineering teams and Security teams as well as with product and business teams
- Be an evangelist of the Architecture organization
- Stay up to speed with the latest technologies
- Actively participate in communities/forums/guilds on infrastructure

**Qualifications**:
Basic Qualifications
- BS/BA/MS in Computer Science, Comp or Electrical Engineering, Science, or Math with 10+ years of work experience in systems architecture, engineering or development
- 10+ years experience with multiple x86 operating systems
- 10+ years of design, implementation, and support experience with multiple compute and storage hardware systems and vendors
- Hands on experience with virtualization and microservices technologies in a large enterprise

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands on architecting and managing experience with enterprise level, compute, storage, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with container technologies in a production environment (e.g. Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes) and related ecosystem products
- Experience with public cloud services, offerings, and concepts (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience with open-source infrastructure as code software and automation software development tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Advanced certifications a plus
