**Job Summary**:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for supporting the efforts of the Regional Sourcing operation to ensure a continuous supply of needed goods, services or external labor are sourced according to field services’ requirements, EHS and Quality standards, and competitive costs Will be responsible for sourcing assigned commodity categories, understanding and communicating on supplier markets, and managing supplier engagements while promoting good interdepartmental relationships. Will participate in sourcing and/or purchasing process improvement initiatives, supplier corrective actions as needed, providing supplier engagement guidance and supplier alternatives to Buyers given fulfillment actions tied to regional sourcing plans, and in driving key performance indicators metrics given annual goals and objectives.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Support the negotiation of terms and conditions for assigned region.
- Identify areas of potential sourcing solutions or supplier performance requirements (to established standards) opportunities and offer recommendations
- Lead cost reduction/savings initiatives for assigned commodities
- Fulfill key performance metric goals as assigned annually or for special requests
- Maintain supplier base by identifying and managing regional/country/technology specific supplier heat maps
- Support supplier evaluation or supplier management programs
- Provide assistance to other team members to assist with buying objectives and outage procurement sourcing plans
- Initiate and maintain good supplier relations given GE/FieldCore behaviors of Integrity, Humility and Focus
- Work collaboratively with other cross-functional departments/operations as/if needed
- Closely monitor all assigned projects and take appropriate action to ensure their successful completion - Report project progress to manager and team members as appropriate
- Lead coordinated efforts to ensure root cause and corrective actions are identified and implemented
- Travel may be required
- May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.
**Required Qualifications & Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or equivalent
- 7+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or analytical experience in a project-oriented environment
- 2+ years of specialized/industry experience
- English proficiency required
**Desired Characteristics**:
- Knowledge of purchasing and sourcing practices and procedures, including supplier negotiations techniques, spend and category analytics
- Attention to detail and outstanding organizational and analytical skills
- Skillful in establishing and maintaining working relationships internally and externally with suppliers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently, to prioritize, and work well with time constraints
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and creative thought processing skills
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success with cost reductions
- Proven ability to lead cross functional efforts and achieve desired results
- Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and MRP / ERP systems
