Senior Manager of Internal Communications

The Senior Internal Communications is an important role in building and deploying the professional expertise necessary to inform, engage and equip DP World APAC people to play their part in driving business transformation and repositioning the brand. The core purpose of the role is to unify the APAC team around our vision, mission, and strategy and to create ‘brand ambassadors’ across the region. The Senior Manager of Internal Communications will need to create a consistent link between global, regional and local Internal Relations, bring a wealth of insight and a drive to deliver breakthroughs.
**Key Accountability**:
- **Strategy. **To develop and maintain an integrated regional Internal Relations strategy which defines:
- the roles of Internal Relations activities in building the brand and the business
- strategic targets for key outcomes in terms of shaping employee understanding and attitudes
- the resources, budgets and competences needed to deliver agreed strategic objectives
- **Planning. **To create a Regional Internal Relations programme which:
- is aligned with immediate term objectives for the businesses and the brand
- optimises the use of key owned channels (Connexions); thought leadership assets (e.g., Trade in Transition); executive spokespeople (e.g., CEO & MD for the APAC) and news features
- provides a manageable calendar of key internal communications activities across the year
- **Implementation. **To drive the effective and cost-efficient execution of the plan through:
- liaison with senior management and People department
- dedicated in-house resources (at the global level) for creation and production
- collaboration with colleagues on the ground and throughout the DP World organisation.
- **Measurement. **To work within the framework of a strategic dashboard of measurements which:
- monitors the effectiveness of Internal Relations activities against defined objectives
- tracks overall progress against objectives for employee attitudes and engagement (‘My World Survey’)
- enables investment to be justified on the basis of robustly measured outcomes and ROI
- **Tactical Responsiveness. **To maintain the ability to respond to unforeseen changes, including:
- short-term opportunities
- issues or problems which were not anticipated
- Crisis Management and readiness planning
- **Continuous Improvement. **To encourage and nurture a culture of innovation designed to:
- test and validate new ideas and approaches
- draw on specialist experience and learning from the wider external world
- expand and strengthen professional skill sets and best practices
- **Compliance. **To constantly adhere to and actively promote behaviours which reflect the DP World Brand Purpose while specifically:
- maintaining the highest levels of Safety standards
- complying with DP World Principles, Code of Conduct and Ethical policies
- meeting all agreed standards for the new DP World Brand and Visual Identity
- acting as an ambassador for DP World at all times
Minimum 10+ years corporate communications experience, preferably in an internal communications leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A proven track-record as an experienced practitioner in implementing Internal Relations programmes at regional and local levels.
- Outstanding English writing, editing and proof-reading skills; with diligence and proactivity in validating facts. Fluency in another regional language an advantage.
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to create and sustain relationships across a diverse range of internal constituencies.
- Significant experience in the use of digital intranet channels and the ability to tell stories in interesting and compelling ways to specific audience segments, using words, images, audio, video.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary
- A flexible individual who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get work done.
