Regional - Manager, Data Services

Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee In this role you will be a senior member of the team building the data and analytics platform. You will work alongside different functions to develop the data platform by understanding the core system data structures, data processing architecture and designing data pipelines You will also be working closely with the data scientist to engineer features required to support the development of machine learning models. Primary Responsibilities - Responsible for the validating data, setting up standards and guidelines for code, analysis of data, identification, sourcing, cleansing and manipulation of data across the operational systems and the data and analytics platform. The Senior Data Specialist works with the business, Analytics partners, Information Analysts and Data Scientists to understand data requirements and execute the sourcing and integration of this data to serve the needs of data and analytics work. - Design and development of Data engineering assets - Develop scalable feature engineering frameworks to support data science activities - Evaluate feature importance and manage productionisation of data features - Codes, tests, and documents new or modified data models and ETL tools to create robust and scalable data assets for reporting and analytics - Setup code standards and guidelines for Data specialists. - Expands and grows data platform capabilities to solve new data problems and challenges by identifying, sourcing and integrating new data - Develop ETL solutions on Python, R, Microsoft Technology Stack to load data across multiple sources into Data and Analytics platform - Implementation of solutions that adhere to architecture best practices - Contribution to our ambition to develop a best in class data and analytics platform leveraging next generation technologies - Define and builds the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business - Work across the Data & Analytics function to ensure we are developing our models, architecture and technical solutions in a scalable and maintainable way that is in line with best practices - Proactively identify rationalization opportunities and implement changes to the reporting suite to increase customer usage and reduce wasted effort - Ensure data integrity within reports and dashboards by reviewing data, identifying and resolving gaps and inconsistencies, and escalating as required to foster a partnered approach to data accuracy for business reporting purposes - Continuous improvement of practices - Good stakeholder management skills - The Senior Data Specialist shall be an expert in data engineering including new data engineering technologies, data pipeline development, design, data modelling and analysis. - Ability to manage team of data experts - Experience in managing technical resources and driving outcomes Required Experience - 10+ years relevent experience Preferred Competencies/Skills - MS Stack: Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI and SQL - Experience in MongoDB, Graph databases - Programming languages: R, Python, SQL VStudio, - CI/tools : Jenkins, Bamboo or similar tools, - GitHub, Jira and Confluence Preferred Experience - A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the data management, architecture, solution designing and delivery space - Demonstrated experience in Data Mapping, data Modelling (3NF, Star-schema, Big Tables, Columnar, Key-value pair and JSON based documents) - Experience working in data engineering, information architecture and data platforms design, including data warehouse technical architectures, ETL, batch designs and parallel processing - Solid understanding of Data and Analytics principles and data management/quality capabilities needed to support analytic reporting - Experience in building data streams, batch and real-time data pipelines Preferred Knowledge - Good knowledge of end to end data management lifecycle and data quality management - Ability to manage team of data experts - Good stakeholder management skills - Experience in managing technical resources and driving outcomes - Ability to articulate and present technical concepts to business managers and leaders - Good written and oral communication - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other equivalent field QBE Cultural DNA US Only - Disclaimer - To successfully perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each essential job responsibility satisfactorily.
