**Summarize the Major Function and Purpose of the Position:
Contracts personnel perform a key role in the Project Team. They bring together contractual, commercial and technical knowledge in order to provide contractual and commercial guidance to the project team and the wider organisation

**Responsibilities**:

- Support line management with responsibility for organising and maintaining logs and files (both in terms of a central database and hard copy filing systems) in a systematic manner to allow for easy access
- Post client contract award, preparation of prequalification and RFQs for low risk and/or small-size contracts, independently.
- Lead negotiations and manage low risk contracts. Exposure to negotiations and drafting of medium risk contracts. Drafting of internal approval sheet and obtaining the various levels of approval for all contracts.
- Post award subcontract management, drafting and/or review and approval of subcontract notices, amendments, change requests and change orders formalization of subcontract closeout.
- Establish high quality cooperation and team work. Contribute to a positive work environment. Embraces diversity. **Requirements**:

- MRICS, MCIArb, SCL is an advantage
- Able to draft clear and concise correspondence. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A high level of comprehension in order to understand and interpret contractual language coupled with an ability to formulate arguments that support the contractual interpretation sought by the company.
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience

**Work Experience**:

- A preference for upstream oil and gas experience working for owner and contractor organisations in a project delivery environment.
- Construction contracts experience
- An understanding of technical, commercial, contractual and execution risk in a construction contracts environment and the inter relationships and trade offs between each of these aspect
- Engineering, procurement, fabrication, offshore construction and installation and commissioning
- Planning and scheduling
- Understand how a project team is organised and the inter relationship between the various project functions and with corporate legal, insurance and finance group

**Legal and Contractual Knowledge**:

- Understand the basics of the legal system with a focus on common law jurisdictions - How laws are made, and rights enforced
- Understand the law of tort and civil wrongs and the impact on contractual relationships
- Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of contract law
- Have a deep understanding of construction la
- Insurance - CAR
- Bank guarantees and performance bonds
- Charter parties

**Commercial Knowledged**:

- Contracting strategy
- Methods of reimbursement - Lump sum, measured work, reimbursable, hybrid
- The tendering process
- Contracts and commercial management experience with a focus on contract changes/variations and claims

**Technical Knowledge**:

- Contracts drafting and negotiation experience
- Management of the tendering process
- Contracts and commercial management - Contract changes/variations and claims management - Ability to close out contracts and subcontracts pragmatically
- Subcontractor and vendor management
- An understanding of dispute avoidance and resolution
