The Department of Communications and New Media is looking for a Research Assistant who will work with an Associate Professor on projects relating to media regulation, digital policy and public engagement.

The Research Assistant will engage in several research projects and will have opportunities to co-author articles and research papers. This job will provide excellent training for a fresh graduate or an early career researcher who is seeking to develop a career in the fields of social science research and public policy, whether in academia, the public service, or the private sector.
Job Scope- Scoping and collating literature reviews
- Preparing questionnaires/survey instruments
- Collecting, cleaning, formatting and analysing primary and secondary data
- Assisting with the editing and preparation of documentation and manuscripts relating to projects
- Assisting with events associated with research projects, such as planning and reporting of seminars and workshops
- Creating content to communicate research on department’s social media

**Qualifications**

**Applicants must**:

- Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science discipline from a reputable university
- Be intellectually curious and possess strong research skills, preferably with some background and a keen interest in issues relating to developments in the media landscape and digital policy
- Demonstrate experience and competence in working with and synthesising large bodies of data (gathered through primary and secondary research)
- Have an excellent command of the English language (spoken and written), with a keen eye for grammar, detail and accuracy
- Be resourceful in getting things done and be able to meet deadlines and work well with others
- Prior experience in a research role
- Has experience in conducting research, whether qualitative (e.g., interviews and focus groups discussions), or quantitative (e.g., surveys, experiments)
- Has proficiency in Qualtrics and SPSS/R programming for statistical analyses.
