Software Engineer

**The Role**:

The Software Engineer - Endur is part of and supports a global team. This role will primarily work with the Shell Energy business. This includes the domestic gas/power marketing businesses in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, along with the Global LNG (SLMT) business.

**What’s the role?**

The primary role of Software Engineer - Endur is to manage the technical delivery of complex projects and programs, bring about industry best practices, and uphold its integrity. This role requires to review technical delivery of Junior resources and coach/mentor technical resources.

Endur is the core ETRM software for Shell and it manages one of its biggest portfolios - LNG. The role will navigate complex team structure with number of teams, team leads and mangers to uphold and influence their processes with industry standard and excellence.

The Software Engineer is expected to work in predominately DevOps way of working. This role will be working directly with business to understand business issues, fact finding, analyze impacts and dependencies, recommend end-to-end solution design and work independently or as a team to implement the solution or solve an incident or problem.
- key/SaaS solutions, which needs to work with third party suppliers to implement change requests, support end-to-end internal and user testing, testing/trials of software patches/upgrades, support deployment, post deployment validation and business acceptance.

The role may also involve the prototyping and delivery of a solution or new technology, which may include new development, configuration, and installation of third -party packages, and software integration efforts. It may include tasks from every part of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, programming, and software deployment (both the installation and decommissioning of software).

Deliveries process and activities, standards and communications, will be in accordance with the enterprise/team guidelines, tooling, processes and norms (eg, attending and providing sharing sessions, attending scrum calls, process improvements, etc).

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

- Understanding business requirements, to pilot and prototype new solutions and technologies, including procurement, setup, development, demonstration, and deployment
- Support Projects and Support teams in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including Requirements Gathering, Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Implementation, and Production support for software systems
- Determine and design solutions that are scalable and sustainable for a global business.
- Establish and maintain stakeholder satisfaction levels. Build and develop strong trust. relationships with the stakeholders demonstrated through clearly owning, resolving, and communicating issues and problems
- Contribute/participate in local and global IT community activities

**What we need from you**
- Minimum Education or Certification: 4-year Degree related to IT
- 4+ years of corporate IT experience, preferably in Endur projects & implementations with end-to-end trade lifecycle process
- Full life cycle development experience in a project development role
- Experience designing or changing business critical reports/processes to gain full value from technology solutions
- Must have a good object-oriented development background with understanding and experience of concepts like dependency injection and test-driven-development
- Must have experience following a structured CI/CD process to ensure standards and processes are uniformly upheld
- Understanding of valuation and pricing models as they pertain to energy commodities
- Commodity experience with one or more of the following commodities: Power, Natural Gas, LNG or NGL

Desired skills and knowledge:

- Knowledge in specific areas of Energy Trading and prior experience with Energy Trading systems development
- Understands mature software design/architectures, software quality management and coding standards
- Independent working in a highly competitive environment with other team members, business stakeholders, is a special challenge that requires a great deal of flexibility and understanding
- Managing multiple delivery priorities and multiple demand requests
- Able to perform in virtual, cross-functional, cross-cultural teams

Has work experience of the following are required:

- Openlink Endur (v19+) development experience
- Endur AVS/JVS coding skills
- Good knowledge of the Endur data model for transactional and static data
- Extensive knowledge of Endur’s Simulation Results and JVS Libraries
- Experienced in handling memory management issues with JVS scripting
- People who have no Endur experiences but have strong software development life cycle experiences will be considered as well
