**Overview**

**Responsibilities**:

- Receive and accession specimens from histopathology laboratory.
- Perform various technical functions including microtomy, basic histological staining of the tissue sections, and general molecular techniques (nucleic acid extraction).
- Perform specialized molecular techniques (e.g. PCR, direct sequencing, FISH, fragment analysis, NGS wet bench), including benchwork, analysis, and report preparations for pathologist sign-out.
- Participate in internal and external quality assessment.
- Assist in the development and establishment of new molecular oncology tests for clinical use.
- Perform duty roster as assigned monthly and record equipment maintenance according to requirements.
- Ensure proper and safe storage and preparation of laboratory reagents.
- Assist in production of regular and ad-hoc laboratory reports
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and assist in the training of new personnel/ pathology trainee / research personnel.
- Support research work related and relevant to molecular diagnostic tests.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

**Job Requirements**
- Degree in Biological/Life Sciences
- Meticulous with keen attention to details
- Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptability to change.
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Good analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong organizational / time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate, demonstrate proficiency in common computer system and software.
- Knowledge of laboratory good practices and in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
- Willing to rotate between the laboratories located at Kent Ridge and Buona Vista.
