**Overview of Department**
POA-CC team was established in July 2013 under Planning Office for Asia (POA) with the mandate to raise MUFG’s profile in APAC in alignment with the bank’s business promotion and talent recruitment activities in the region.
This VP role will oversee the events management and corporate sponsorship requirements of MUFG in APAC as an extension of the POA-CC’s communication function in support of the bank’s regional business marketing and client engagement requirements. In addition, this role will also be responsible for managing and organising internal regional staff engagement events including the townhall sessions.
Note that this will be a contract role, with an option to renew/extend/convert to a permanent role upon evaluation of the person’s performance and the role’s requirements.
**Purpose of the role**
Responsible for supervising and executing MUFG’s involvement in external industry event sponsorships, conferences and client events in order to support the bank in delivering its business marketing and client engagement objectives and raise the MUFG profile in Asia Pacific. Responsibilities extend to managing select internal events such as regional staff townhalls.
**Responsibilities**:
- As a member of the corporate comms team (POA-CC), take responsibility and accountability for oversight and management of the MUFG APAC events calendar, with priorities to support Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) ESG APAC events.
- Responsible for enhancing brand recognition and value through the delivery of events.
- Proactively drive conversations with senior leaders across the business to develop themes and objectives for events.
- Utilise any relevant BU’s event budgets in support of marketing objectives.
- Responsible for the engagement with external vendors and supplies; sourcing, negotiating, contracting and event delivery.
- Accountable for the project management of an event from conception to execution. Events will refer to all external sponsorships, client conferences and corporate events/hospitality, and where appropriate, key internal staff events such as regional townhalls.
- Plan, manage and control resources to make sure all are allocated to the right opportunities and MUFG’s event requirements are effectively managed.
- Responsibility for collateral and merchandise at events in alignment with MUFG’s corporate brand identity and organisational values.
- Ownership of relationships with a variety of existing suppliers and vendors to maximise implementation of MUFG events.
- Oversight and event management guidance provided to other departments and branches outside GCIB where relevant.
- Responsible for maximising internal and external exposure for MUFG events through collaboration with corp comms departments and liaisons within APAC, head office, and across MUFG’s global network.
- Internally, take ownership of relationship-building with other event managers across the MUFG global network to exchange ideas, leverage supplier contracts and ensure consistent brand/event standards.
- Externally, proactive engagement with key conference organisers so as to identify sponsorship and event marketing opportunities that would maximise MUFG’s profile.
- Responsible for ensuring that MUFG is recognised as a trusted, professional partner through MUFG’s events and industry sponsorships. Establish Corp Comms department as a centre of excellence that exceeds client experience & stakeholder expectations.
- Implement appropriate KPIs/measurements to assess client feedback/revenue generating opportunities as a result of MUFG led events.
- Confidence to guide/influence senior management on event selection, including to decline events where they do not fall in line with the MUFG/GCIB strategy or values.
- Responsible for effectively optimising, managing and mitigating risk when organising events, working with the management, business and internal risk and compliance functions to set up appropriate policies, processes and procedures.
- Apart from regulatory requirement, ensure events meet any local customs - religious or otherwise. in protection of MUFG’s reputation.
**Job Requirements**:
- At least 8 years’ of event management experience
- Experience in managing events in the Financial Services sector or in events management vendor companies
- Experience in managing budgets and cost control
- Experience in managing and evaluating suppliers to ensure quality and value for money
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage ever changing and often conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work with a high level of motivation and initiative.
- Proven experience in sponsorship management and activation
- Proven experience in running in person and hybrid events across the region
- Good knowledge of AV and production
