The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) is a collaborative initiative launched in 2011 by three government agencies: MPA, A*STAR, and EDB. Its primary role is to strengthen Singapore's maritime sector through research and development initiatives. SMI focuses on developing the port, shipping, and maritime services sectors by fostering partnerships between industry and academia, ultimately supporting Singapore's position as a global maritime knowledge hub.

We are seeking an independent, dedicated Senior UXUI Designer to drive innovation through deep user insights. This role requires an analytical thinker who can conduct extensive research to conceptualize products, ensuring they align with user needs, accessibility standards, and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with internal designers, stakeholders, and product teams to shape future experiences through research-driven strategies.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth UX research and ideation for new product concepts, designing solutions from scratch.
- Implement service design principles to ensure seamless interactions across services and systems.
- Design intuitive user interfaces (UI) that are visually engaging and accessible.
- Ensure designs follow the company’s established design system for consistency and scalability.
- Comply with Singapore DSS (Digital Service Standards) to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Plan and execute usability testing, gathering user feedback to refine and improve designs.
- Manage stakeholders, effectively communicating design solutions and gathering insights.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Proven experience in UX research and design, with a strong portfolio.
- Background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, UX/UI Design, or a related field.
- Expertise in facilitating UX workshops, stakeholder discussions, and collaborative ideation sessions.
- Proficiency in persona development, creating user archetypes that guide design decisions.
- Strong analytical skills in qualitative research.
- Knowledge of quantitative research methodologies.
- Skilled in user journey mapping and service design
- Ability to translate insights into actionable design strategies
- Familiarity with UI principles, with proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), ensuring inclusive digital experiences.
- Proficiency in usability testing methodologies and iterative refinement.
- Experience working in Agile environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, advocating for user-centered solutions.
- Experience with designing 3D UI or visualization is a plus.
- Experience with Unity 3D engine is a plus.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 36 months

Pay: $4,000.00 - $7,000.00 per month
