The Global Retail Markets (GRM) team has an opening for a position in East Region Data Operations team. This role will partner with emerging international data governance, analytics and IT teams to develop and implement data solutions and best practices. We are seeking a hands-on, data driven individual to build and maintain data solutions to improve efficiencies and ensure the solutions can be scaled appropriately. This individual will collaboratively work to drive initiatives with high value for the organization and must possess a high level of technical knowledge and skills with coding and data tools.
As a Data Solutions Analyst you will provide, build and maintain prototype data solutions to meet the needs of the enterprise. You will collaborate with IT to provide coding proof-of-concepts and will help to ensure those solutions can be scaled appropriately. You have a strong familiarization, from a technical point of view, on databases, data querying, ETLs and reporting solutions and tools. But at the same time, you understand the business meaning and importance of data, its definition, lineage and consumption in the form of reporting, analysis or predictive modelling. You will be involved in some of the data most important initiatives. You will also need to show success working in highly collaborative environments consisting of people from different backgrounds, countries, and experiences.
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with colleagues to preform rapid prototyping of data solutions of high complexity to meet the needs of the organization and business customers.
- Designs proof-of-concept solutions utilizing an advanced understanding of multiple coding languages to meet technical and business requirements, with an ability to perform iterative solution testing to ensure specifications are met.
- Designs and develops data solutions that enable effective self-service data consumption and can describe their value to the customer. Assists stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business. Prioritizes efforts based on customer value.
- Strongly and actively collaborates hand to hand with the strategic data initiatives product owners, local teams and IT colleagues.
- Has a strong understanding of Agile techniques. Can set expectations for deliverables of high complexity. Works with IT to help scale prototypes.
- Maintains proof-of-concepts and prototype solutions, and handles any assessment of their viability and scalability in partnership from IT. Working with IT, assists in building robust systems focusing on long-term and ongoing maintenance and support.
- Ensure data solutions include deliverables required to achieve high quality data.
- Displays understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and applies principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security to project work.
- Influences across the team, as well as the broader organization
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in related field (e.g., Math, Science, Social Science, Engineering, Information Technology, International Management) with 2-10 years of experience or the equivalent required.
- Experience in insurance industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience with relational databases such as Redshift and SQL Server, and with writing efficient SQL queries of higher complexity.
- Experience with a variety of data tools and programming languages. For example: SAS, Snowflake, SQL, Python.
- Experience working and managing cloud storage including AWS, Azure, and data pipeline using open-source stacks is preferred.
- General understanding of a variety of data management concepts, such as data warehousing, logical data modeling, data vault, ETL, and MDM
- Familiarity with technologies like Microsoft Business Intelligence; visualization analytics such as Power BI is desired.
- Comfortable assessing data and processes and making recommendations for improvement to reinforce data quality and integrity.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences is a plus.
- Must be driven and flexible enough to succeed in ambiguous and less structured situations.
- Strong communication, influencing, negotiation, organizational and analytical skills required.
- Experience with multiple cultures is preferred.
- Fluency in English and additional language used in Asia countries is preferred.
- International travel will be required (5% to 15% of the time) when we are allowed to travel.
