**Job Description**:
Visa Tools Team is seeking a **Sr. Manager** who will lead a development team comprising of 5 experienced engineers, and responsible for understanding, defining, analyzing and coding tools and utilities which has many internal and external users globally. We are seeking a compassionate leader to handle a vibrant and versatile team of engineers and guide them to the next level of success being technically strong (specific to Web Application development in Java/J2EE programming along with UI/UX development knowledge in Angular) having 10-15 years of experience.
**Responsibilities**:
- Become knowledgeable in Visa's core technology (the overall payment gateway eco system and transaction processing), infrastructure, and standard
- Lead and provide technical mentoring to a team of passionate engineers and train them on Developer standard methodologies as well as drive behaviors that align with Visa Leadership Principles.
- Lead meetings and discussions with clients (internal and external) while developing close working relationships with members of different teams within the organization.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to plan timely and smooth releases of features into QA and Production environments removing obstacles that impede work processes.
- Mentor and motivate people to drive engagement within the team and conduct regular 1:1 meeting, annual goal settings, and performance evaluations for team members.
- Hire, develop and retain employees with diverse backgrounds and spend time training and grooming high potential employees (succession planning).
- Review high and low level design of new systems as well as enhancements / defect fixing that the team undertakes and provide recommendations / proper guidance as needed.
- Ability to guide engineers to design systems in addition to guidance available from architecture team in terms of technical direction of solution to be implemented.
- Be able to review and recommend as needed any open-source / commercial tools that the team is considering for an engineering solution.
- Working closely with peer people leaders within the team to support the team’s overall charter in a comprehensive way and be open to matrix management model across all team members (not just direct reports) if needed to support any project.
- Becoming the bridge / core contact point for Product, Architect, Dev and QA along with all other potential stakeholders in the pipeline for all the upcoming development work is a major responsibility for this role.
- Building relationships across different Visa teams and actively working with all collaborators to create win-win scenarios for all concerned to collectively make progress towards Visa’s common business goal will be another major responsibility for this role.
- Having a keen eye to find opportunities in Visa where the team’s knowledge and skills can be best leveraged to drive new business opportunities will be a highly desired trait.
- Display active interest in learning about newer technologies and business use cases to build the next generation of payment solutions and help our clients achieve their business goals by understanding their requirements and delivering the best solution.
