The role plays a pivotal role in conceptualizing, deploying, overseeing, and supervising the local and wide area networks for our clients' organizations, assuring optimal service uptimes for their business services. This multifaceted responsibility encompasses the formulation of network setups, documentation of network modus operandi, and supervision of new network installations, as well as the regular maintenance and timely updates of pre-existing network systems.
A. The role of a Network Engineer entails:
1. Devising and executing novel network solutions or enhancing the efficacy of existing networks.
2. Deploying, configuring, and maintaining networking appliances and devices, such as routers, switches, WAF, WAN accelerators, NGFW, IPAM, proxy etc.
3. Acquiring network equipment and overseeing subcontracting partners involved in network setup.
4. Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to optimize network security and efficiency.
5. Enhancing network performance through proactive monitoring of network capacity and timely resolution of network incidents.
6. Coordinating scheduled network upgrades.
7. Investigating and troubleshooting network malfunctions and impairments.
8. Updating network equipment with recent or supported firmware releases.
9. Delivering comprehensive network status reports to pertinent stakeholders.
B. Desirable Skillsets:
1. Demonstrated proficiency in IP network design, implementation, migration and maintenance.
2. Comfortable in configuring switching, routing, VLAN, VPN, VoIP, Wireless AP, IPAM etc.
3. Working knowledge of cabling infrastructure for physical network cabling and/or structured cabling implementation.
4. Ability to map and interpret network topologies and diagrams with network related documents.
5. Knowledge of network capacity management, planning and deployment. Familiar with network traffic shaping and policing techniques.
6. Experience with firewall and their integration with network management and security platforms.
7. Experience with authentication protocols (RADIUS, LDAP, OAuth, SAML etc) and their use in enterprise setting.
8. Good understanding and appreciation of core network services that enables all communications over an IP-based network.
