As we expand our digital team, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Design Director to join our team.

**Position Overview**:
As a Design Director you’ll be responsible for the quality and delivery of Elmwood’s creative output, working closely alongside colleagues both creative and in the client services team. You lead teams of Designers, providing strategic leadership, day-to-day management, motivation and inspiration. You build strategic and profitable relationships with clients with a view to growing selected accounts.

**The Role in Detail**:
**Delivery
- You’re the running mate for the Client Partner and Account Director, understanding the client’s strategic needs.
- Lead the team on high value projects, demonstrating exceptional creativity, intellect, strategic thinking and effectiveness to problem solving.
- You’re a multi-tasker and can juggle multiple projects ensuring you’re hitting the brief every time.
- Actively reviewing the team’s delivery and resource management to achieve the creative and commercial outcomes by using effective problem solving and decision making.
- Being respected in your field of expertise, and capable of leading strategic discussions.
- You proactively support the Creative Director in the delivery of award winning creative work.
- Instrumental in the creation of high quality awards entry material including imagery and the project story. You ensure that work you are responsible for is captured in a way suitable for case studies ie. keynote and web usage.

**Relationships**
- Develop strong and beneficial relationships with key stakeholders including clients, suppliers and within industry networks.
- You play an active part in sustaining Elmwood’s reputation as a world class Design Agency through effective management, marketing, networking and PR of the studio, both internally and externally.
- You need to build effective teams, empowering them to perform not only for the client, but also to achieve their own objectives.
- Maximising the creative output on projects looking beyond the brief through directing and coaching, providing constructive, honest feedback to build confidence.
- Identify development opportunities for your direct reports and more junior colleagues in the Design team to support the growth and retention of our talent. You actively and energetically support the Creative Director in creating a positive and successful place to work, encouraging learning, competition and teamwork.

**Commercials**
- Showing commercial leadership and doing what is right for Elmwood through effective strategies, standards and behaviours.
- Effectively leading multiple projects with a view to expanding project scope and creating further revenue opportunities. Keeping abreast of industry insights, seeking new opportunities and revenue streams to develop Elmwood’s offering.

**Thinking broader**
- Continual learning about our systems, processes and insights.
- Constructively participating in the development and delivery of the creative strategy of the studio strategy to build our creative and commercial reputation. Developing and delivering one presentation as part of Elmwood’s L&D internal program.

**Skills and Expertise**

What we’re looking for in a great Design Director
- Experience in the Creative industry is required
- Qualification in graphic design to degree level or equivalent.
- A book that demonstrates exceptional creativity, intellect, craft skills and preferably award winning work.
- A strategic thinker when it comes to brands.
- Ability to delivery work to achieve revenue targets.
- Proven commercial success in farming existing and winning new piecesof work.
- An awareness of different print and production techniques.
- Regular presenter/speaker at industry events.
- An active networker.
- An ability to lead and inspire others and to get the most out of those around - you are a natural collaborator.
