**ROLE PURPOSE**
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the efficient administration and day to day maintenance of Shine’s IT systems. Responsibilities include performing day to day maintenance of servers and network hardware, evaluating new technologies, performing patching and compliance activities, and responding to incidents and service requests efficiently and effectively.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Act as a technical expert in the management of the network, including fault remediation, firewall creation and modification, VLAN creation, modification and deletion
- Ensure adequate data protection measures are in place and tested on a regular basis
- Take proactive steps to ensure an appropriate level of system availability, planning ahead for necessary hardware or software upgrades
- Monitor and maintain the security of IT infrastructure within the business
- Maintain, support and optimise Shine’s IT systems
- Investigate and provide technical advice on the implementation of new technologies and systems as required
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and system issues as they arise
- Research and recommend new approaches to improve the networked computer system
- Providing advanced level 2 technical support, service and care for internal and offsite staff members
- Support development, documentation, communication and enforcement of network technology policy
- Creation and maintenance of documentation of the environment’s configuration and operational processes
- Undertake infrastructure maintenance and participate in improvement works and projects
- Deliver cross-functional technical services, by working together with peers, sharing skills and knowledge and promoting a professional department image and the value of the IT unit
- Act as an escalation point for complex queries raised by more junior team members
- Provide technical support to end users where required or directed
- Deploy, update, or decommission branch infrastructure as directed
- Manage user accounts and assets, assigning and updating security permissions according to security policy
**QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER ATTAINMENTS**
**Formal Education**
- Industry certification such as Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or other vendor certifications
**Experience required**
- At least 5 years’ experience in a system administration role working in a hybrid-cloud environment
- Strong Microsoft Windows Server administration skills across Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 and 2019, on premise and with IAAS
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of key networking and systems concepts (i.e. DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Azure
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Remote Desktop technologies (Azure Virtual Desktop, MS Remote Desktop Services, Citrix)
- SOE development and software deployment methods (i.e. System Centre Configuration Manager)
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems)
- Experience working with backup products such as Azure Backup and Cohesity
- Ability to create scripts in PowerShell, Python, Perl or other languages
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
