Senior Engineer

Local Unit & Position Description:
The Materials and Testing section in DNV Singapore provide materials & structural integrity testing and advisory services to the natural gas and sustainable energy (e.g. offshore wind) industries through laboratory testing, technical analysis and integrity assessment. Our services help assure quality and reliability of various assets including offshore infrastructure, onshore & offshore pipelines, offshore windfarms, CCS and Hydrogen infrastructure, process plants and refineries.

Materials failure analysis is one of key services delivered by the unit. We are seeking a senior engineer with deep knowledge in engineering materials and broad experience in laboratory failure analysis and investigation to join us. The senior engineer is expected to conduct laboratory failure analysis, metallurgical evaluation, associated lab testing/examination, as well as support root cause analysis & investigation of equipment and system failure incident. You will have great opportunities to work in a multi-disciplinary technical team, both within the section and globally across the company.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Handle technical enquiry and interface with customer
- Study and clarify the enquiry/RFQ
- Prepare technical and commercial proposal
- Perform site visit and data collection
- Perform metallurgy testing and evaluation
- Perform laboratory materials failure analysis
- Lead site replica and metallography examination
- Provide advisory to in-house laboratory testing
- Support materials selection, root cause analysis, fitness-for-service (FFS) assessment and other advisory projects as SME
- Manage and deliver projects with high quality and on time
- Manage customer’s expectations throughout the project
- Coordinate with laboratory for the testing scope needed by the project
- Contribute to the innovation, unit’s competence and service development

Position Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in materials/corrosion engineering, physical metallurgy, mechanical, physics, marine & offshore engineering or other equivalent disciplines. PhD/Master will be an advantage
- Minimum 5-year relevant professional experience preferably in laboratory environment
- Proven track records in conducting metallurgy examination and laboratory failure analysis/investigation for infrastructure and assets of energy and maritime industry
- Hand on experience and skilful in SEM, microscope, and typical metallurgical lab instrument
- Knowledgeable in materials technology including but not limited to metallurgy, casting, forging, welding, NDT, corrosion etc.
- Experience in failure analysis of polymeric materials is a plus
- Excellence in technical reporting writing
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Strong English verbal and written skills
