We partner with rescued and retired horses to empower those whom we serve, enhancing their socio-emotional well-being, self-awareness, and relationship management skills-developing resilience and strengthening individuals and communities.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The purpose of this role is to train horses, maintain their general fitness, and prepare them for equine-related programmes and activities at EQUAL.

As an Equine Trainer, you are responsible for working closely with our horses and tending to their physical needs. You are to focus on the rehabilitation and retraining of our horses, besides preparing them for equine-related programmes and services.

It is your responsibility to focus on the general fitness and maintenance of our horses. You are to regularly exercise the horses (e.g., lunging, walking, and riding) and visually inspect the horses to ensure that they are well and in a healthy condition. You will work closely with the Grooms to ensure that our horses are well cared for and their welfare is always prioritised.

This role requires you to coordinate and work with the Programmes & Services team members. It is your responsibility to manage our horses involved in the equine programme sessions in supporting the Programme Instructors during the equine programme facilitation.

As an Equine Trainer, you will also help to supervise the Grooms only when assigned by the Stable & Operations Supervisor. You are also to regularly check the areas surrounding the stable to ensure that the environment is safe and secure for our horses.

This role reports to the Stable & Operations Supervisor and works closely with the Animal Welfare & Operations Department, led by the Head of Animal Welfare & Operations. The Equine Trainer will also assist in any other activities/ events/ or work as instructed by the reporting officer and the Leadership team.

**ROLE REQUIREMENTS**

Preferred Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Horse Riding, Training, and Handling.
- Equestrian and Mental Health-related certification is an advantage, but not required.
- Valid Ministry of Education (MOE) Instructor registration or willing to undergo training to obtain the necessary MOE registration.
