Application Scientist

The Application Scientist will be responsible for researching projects including product development, process enhancement, patent development and strong linkage to customers for joint development and technical support.
The Opportunity
- Support Sales and business development teams frequently for customer support and visits to customers. Provide technical support and have the ability to work directly with customers both on and off site.
- To conduct pilot or commercial trials, take formulations from bench-top to pilot plant and commercialization.
- Create new nutritional products concepts with Glanbia products that challenge existing market products.
- Gain fundamental understanding of plant processes used to produce all nutritional products and be able to assist production with trouble shooting such issues.
- Develop intellectual property in the form of patents to help protect and add value to the business bottom line.
- Interpret complex scientific data to show benefits of products under study, develop and deliver reports for both scientific and lay persons that communicate both the science and benefits of products.
- Educate sales force in both formal and informal training, particularly in new products that are being commercialized.
- Develop new or improved ways of preserving, processing, packaging, storing, and delivering foods and supplements using knowledge of chemistry, microbiology and other sciences.
- Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content and adherence to government and industry standards.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Master of Science degree (M. S.) or equivalent; or a B. S. degree with minimum 10 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to synthesize new ideas and methods from reading and analyzing common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write publication grade manuscripts and have experience in publishing scientific articles. Must have the ability to present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
