An M&E Coordinator (Mechanical and Electrical Coordinator) plays a crucial role in construction projects, ensuring that mechanical and electrical systems are designed, installed, and maintained according to project specifications, codes, and standards. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, coordination skills, and attention to detail. Below is a detailed breakdown of the job scope and job requirements for an M&E Coordinator:
**1. Planning and Design Coordination**
- Review M&E drawings, specifications, and BOQ (Bill of Quantities) to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve design conflicts or discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of M&E schedules and budgets.

**2. Procurement and Vendor Management**
- Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors for M&E systems and equipment.
- Prepare procurement documents, including RFQs (Request for Quotations) and purchase orders.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site.

**3. Site Coordination and Supervision**
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of M&E systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection).
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work complies with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with other trades (e.g., civil, structural) to avoid clashes and ensure smooth project execution.

**4. Quality Control and Compliance**
- Ensure all M&E works adhere to local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct quality checks on materials, equipment, and installations.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports and documentation for approvals.

**5. Progress Monitoring and Reporting**
- Monitor the progress of M&E works against the project schedule.
- Prepare progress reports and updates for project managers and stakeholders.

- Oversee the testing and commissioning of M&E systems to ensure functionality and performance.
- Coordinate with testing agencies and authorities for necessary certifications.

**7. Safety Management**
- Ensure all M&E works comply with safety regulations and practices.
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox meetings for M&E teams.
- Report and address any safety incidents or hazards on-site.

**8. Documentation and Handover**
- Maintain accurate records of M&E works, including as-built drawings, test reports, and warranties.
- Assist in the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
- Support the handover process to clients or facility management teams.

**Job Requirements**

**1. Education and Qualifications**
- Diploma or Degree: In Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified M&E Coordinator, PMP, or Green Mark certifications) are advantageous.

**2. Experience**
- Minimum 2-5 years: Of experience in M&E coordination, preferably in construction or building services.
- Project Exposure: Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial projects is highly valued.

**3. Technical Skills**
- Knowledge of M&E Systems: Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other building systems.
- Software Proficiency: Ability to use AutoCAD, BIM (Building Information Modeling), MS Project, and other relevant software.
- Codes and Standards: Understanding of local building codes (e.g., BCA Singapore) and international standards.

**4. Soft Skills**
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with stakeholders.
- Coordination: Ability to manage multiple tasks and teams effectively.
