**Overview**:
**The Asia Pacific Division has an opening for a Counsel, Law & Governmental Affairs based in the Singapore Office.**

The position will report to the Staff Vice President, Corporate Affairs Senior Council in Law & Governmental Affairs based in Rhode Island, USA.- The primary purpose of this position is to serve as counsel to and advocate for FM Global’s operations in Asia Pacific on all matters, including the provision of legal services, governance and regulatory matters.***Responsibilities**:

- The key job responsibilities will be to:
- Oversee and administer the delivery of timely and effective legal advice and counsel to the FM Global community in the region;
- Serve as a key point of contact for FM Global’s regulatory authorities in the region;
- Ensure the effective corporate governance of the company in the region and participate as appropriate in local or regional committees and working groups;
- Monitor, influence, analyze and as necessary help assure compliance with new or pending legislation, regulations and law, impacting on FM Global, advising appropriate company personnel accordingly;
- Effectively manage outside counsel, as required;
- Analyze for senior management the legal exposures of the company and make recommendations to reduce exposures to liability or to loss of company rights and assets.

**Qualifications**:
**Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge**:

- LLB / Law Degree from a reputable and internationally recognized university;
- Admitted to practice in Singapore or a comparable regional jurisdiction
- At least seven (7) years of legal practice experience with a significant proportion gained in APAC countries and with a reputable law firm or in-house legal function;
- A good understanding of regulation applicable to the financial services sector / insurance industry;
- Sound judgment, strong communication skills;
- Good command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of another Asian language, would be a significant advantage;
- Familiar with business culture and ethics in the Asia Pacific region;
- Willing to travel.
