Evaluates and resolves unusually complicated classification and compensation problems having no precedent. Responsible for providing expert advice on a variety of classification and compensation regulations including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Hazard Pay, draft classification standards and guides, Title 38 pay provisions, GS Special Rate tables, as necessary. Functions as a Bureau expert in interpreting compensation laws and regulations, and position classification standards and guides; and provides guidance and advise to resolve some of the most difficult issues faced by HR servicing offices Bureau-wide regarding these program areas. **Requirements**: Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is Required. See Special Conditions of Employment Section. **Qualifications**: To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: **Education**: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. **Experience**: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. **Some examples of this qualifying experience are**: Experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of position classification standards and guides, judgment and sound position classification principles to evaluate and resolve unusually complicated problems. Experience evaluating position classification appeals and processing actions according to applicable OPM regulations, DOJ order and BOP policy. Experience providing expert technical advice to top level program managers and staff in operating human resource offices regarding premium pay and pay setting procedures for both General Schedule and Federal Wage Systems employees. Experience conducting desk audits, and interviewing supervisors to supplement information contained in position descriptions. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. The representative rate for this position is $113,751 per annum ($54.50 per hour). **Special Conditions of Employment Section**: Additional selections may be made if vacancies occur within the life of the certificate. **NOTE**: Remote eligible based on agency policy. **SALARY RANGE**: Salary reflected on this vacancy announcement is for the “Rest of the U.S.”; however, the selectee’s salary may be higher based on the worksite/duty station of the appointee.
