**1. Job Purpose**

A Medical Technologist is responsible for delivery of patients service in the work area in a personalised, specialised and cost-effective way in accordance to established hospital policies, procedures and standard of practices.

A Medical Technologist also provides laboratory support for all clinical cases that require neurophysiological and neurosonographical diagnostic tests.

**2. Duties and Responsibilities**

**Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)**

To co-operate with doctors and other health-care providers in smooth delivery of services to patients.

To ensure that all procedures scheduled for patients are attended to and to oversee to the Lab’s smooth operation daily.

To perform all neurological and neurosonographical diagnostic tests as requested by doctors.

To be responsible for preliminary test reporting.

To record results in computer and ensure reports are given to the doctor in-charge to verify.

To ensure reports are reported and ready for despatch to clinics/wards within stipulated time frame.

To ensure that a copy of patients’ reports is filed in orderly manner for easy retrieval.

To coordinate with various departments /clinics/wards on urgent requests for neurological/ neurosonographical procedures as ordered by doctors.

To demonstrate proper and economical usage of consumables and supplies.

To ensure that stock inventory / level on supplies and consumables are adequately maintained and replenished.

To check and calibrate lab equipment and instruments to ensure that they are in good working condition.

To be responsible for all service maintenance records of equipment.

To oversee, maintain and demonstrate proper use and care of equipment.

To supervise, coach and guide staff (including new staff) to deliver patient care service and clinical duties toward meeting organisational goals in the absence of Senior Medical Technologist where applicable.

To attend to patients’ feedback/enquiries, perform service recovery and provide information when appropriate.

To maintain a clean and safe working environment monitoring studies as requested by doctors

**Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)**

To attend to telephone enquiries / calls and trace results when requested.

To assist in patients’ registration and make appointments.

To lead or participate in service quality activities / program.

To attend in-service lectures and course.

To be involved in statistical report keeping of the lab.

To carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor(s).

**3. Job Specification/Requirements**

Qualification:
Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent with related work experience or

**Experience**:
At least 3 years of related work experience in clinical service

**Skills**:Competent in Microsoft Office software

Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

Critical thinking and demonstrate initiative to problem-solve business-as-usual issues
