Structured Products Associate

**The Role**:
The role is to support and grow the development of structured products capabilities within Shell’s Environmental Products Trading Business (“EPTB”), from emerging regional strengths into robust global capability. You will work closely with traders and originators across EPTB’s regional teams to identify, develop, structure, and execute complex long-term trades. The focus will be on transactions that leverage EPTB’s ability to invest capital in projects to source to ad, substantial long dated optionality, and volume exposure for EPTB’s trade books.

The position calls for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with the ability to perform well under pressure. The role reports into the Regional Team Lead for South East Asia & Oceania (SEAO).

**The Environmental Products Trading Business** operates in environmental product markets across the globe. Its core business is to manage a portfolio of environmental allowances and offsets and in the process contributes to Shell’s sustainability objectives as well its bottom line. EPTB achieves its objectives by:
**1. Building and optimizing emissions portfolios**:We leverage deep understanding of the compliance and voluntary emissions markets - and the connections between them - to capture opportunities across market mechanisms, geographies, methodologies and vintages as well as across contract types and tenors. We integrate perspectives from all demand sinks and supply sources in real time to take proprietary positions across the environmental value chain. This leads us to build portfolios that warehouse significant optionality, structure and risk, with the objective of optimizing returns.

**2. Risk Manage, Develop Structure, Take Positions**: We warehouse risk - price, volume, credit, liquidity, reputation, technical, quality, operational, regulatory
- and pursue diversification and mitigation of these in our portfolio construction, structure development and optionality creation. This informs our proprietary positions, enabling us to capture value from price movements intraday as well as across multiple years.

**3. Manage External Relationships**: We build long term relationships with third parties, commencing from ideation through to start up and into material offtake and supply commitments over time. We are proficient at integrating financing, commercial terms, operations, systems and platforms in our term contracts to enable sustained delivery of solutions to our counterparties, while continuously refining these in the pursuit of efficiencies and scale.

**4. Agility**: We anticipate new products and opportunities, pivot quickly and build positions ahead of market evolution. In and across markets that we participate in, EPTB adapts to new restrictions, reinvents business models, commercializes emergent technologies, and interprets regulatory changes to capture commercial opportunities.

**What’s the role?**

You will be responsible primarily for meeting targets for gross margin, by executing structured finance transactions that generate strategic and sustainable supply of carbon offsets for EPTB trading desk. You will be expected to add long term supply to each of EPTB’s regional businesses and thereby grow the bottom line of the global EPTB business.

Structured Product transactions involve bespoke structures that use substantial amounts of capital, across diverse forms. Addressing inherent credit risk via innovative solutions and risk mitigation via security and/or contractual terms will be a key feature of the transactions.

You will be expected to champion our one global team focus, be involved in structured transactions from opportunity framing through to close. The growth and optimization of the structured products portfolio through time, in collaboration with the EPTB regional teams, will be a significant feature of your activities.

Externally, you will support partnerships with counterparts, strategic financing partners, banks, pension, and infrastructure funds - all of whom are critical to the delivery and growth strategy of EPTB.
