**Job Description Summary**

The Direct Portfolio Associate will support the Direct Co-Investment group in raising and investing capital as well as improving business operations. The role will have exposure to a wide range of activities including marketing / fundraising, portfolio analysis and reporting, fund management, and the investment process. The role will also serve as a liaison with internal departments such as Investor Relations, Client Service, Accounting, Tax, and Legal/Compliance. The Portfolio Associate will work closely with the Direct Portfolio team in Boston, Dublin, London, and Hong Kong, as well as the broader global Direct Co-Investment team. Prior experience with private equity would be an asset. Please note that this role is not focused on evaluating and executing direct investments.

**Responsibilities**

**Marketing / Client Service: 75%**:

- Prepare, maintain, and present (where appropriate) marketing materials for fundraising activities
- Prepare, maintain, and present (where appropriate) materials for HarbourVest’s existing clients, including fund updates
- Respond to fundraising/marketing-related queries and requests
- Manage separate accounts, including portfolio updates, data room management, and various client communications
- Liaise with Product Specialists, Accounting, Tax, Legal / Compliance, Client Service, and Investor Relations teams

**Direct Investment Monitoring and Operations: 25%**
Portfolio-Related
- Prepare and maintain monitoring materials for all aspects of the Direct Co-Investment portfolio
- Maintain and analyze Direct group databases and KPIs (e.g. deal log, data integrity of internal systems)
- Prepare and coordinate materials for internal direct portfolio presentations (e.g. semi-annual portfolio review and annual meeting presentations)

Fund-Related
- Analyze fund capacity, reserves, investment allocation, and performance
- Assist with preparation of fund letters and quarterly reports for investors
- Develop and maintain fund cash flow modeling
- Liaise with Accounting on all aspects of financial reporting for funds
- Prepare and present (where appropriate) materials for advisory board meetings

Company-Specific
- Participate in Direct Co-Investment group discussions in relation to the evaluation of investments
- Prepare and maintain monitoring materials for portfolio companies
- Participate in ad-hoc projects in relation to existing portfolio companies

General
- Assist with the implementation of Direct Co-Investment group strategic initiatives, ad-hoc operational projects, and other aspects of group management
- Respond to internal queries and requests in relation to the Direct Co-Investment portfolio

**Education**

BS/BA or equivalent
